Dear Parents / Carers

Please find below this week’s Weekly Update!

Letter of the Week – Our chosen letter for our next session is ‘j’! Please can your child bring in an item which has a ‘j’.

Makaton – Our chosen sign will be ‘share’.

Playhouse Activities This Week – This week we have carried on with the Billy Goats Gruff theme and we’ve be doing lots of puppet shows! Some of the children have been practising their whisking skills whilst making Angel Delight. We have been feeding the birds and have been bird watching.

Forest School This Week This week we read One Mole digging a Hole. We went on a number treasure hunt. We found lots of natural materials to help us match the number on our tubs to the number of items going in. We also explored colour mixing and made our own pebble pets. Amanda will be sending out letters, we would like to give you the opportunity to experience Forest school with your child.

Playhouse Activities Next Week – Next week we will be planting our bulbs and will be learning about the growing process. We will continue to feed the birds. We will start to investigate the world and we will look at India.

Internet Safety – During some of our wonderful conversations with your children they do mention that they play games on their parent’s tablet or phone. We thought this was a great opportunity to send out a reminder about internet safety. www.internetmatter.org/advice/0-5 There’s some great advice on: *Exploring the internet together                    * Passwords                * Search safely * Be involved                                                   * Manage access        *Set boundaries These are just a few ideas to support and help you and your child. We’ve also attached their guide: Helping Parents keep their children safe online. Please be mindful if your child is on YouTube, we know of an incident when a child was watching Peppa Pig and there was a lot of extreme swearing.

Diary Dates – Here are a few dates for your dairy.

Letter & Sounds Workshops – Please add your name to the form in our cloakroom, from Monday. This workshop is aimed at all children at the Playhouse, not just the older ones. The aim is to help you support your child’s early literacy skills, the session will also include helping them to read and write and how to pronounce the phonic sounds. We hope you can join us!

Magnetic Ball Craze – A Doctor in the UK has issued a serious warning to parents over a potentially deadly magnetic ball craze which has left at least four children needing surgery. The trend involves youngsters placing small magnetic balls inside their mouth to mimic tongue and cheek piercings. If swallowed, the ball-bearing magnets stick to each other through loops of gastrointestinal tract and can cause bowel perforation or intestinal blockage. Have a lovely weekend!
Kind regards
