Dear Parents / Carers

Playhouse Activities This Week – This week we have been making some wonderful fruit salads, the children cut up orange, pineapple, strawberries, banana, and mixed orange juice. Building on their fine motor skills using a knife to chop up the fruits. They were fantastic at trying the different fruits and tasting it. It was delicious.
The children have really enjoyed painting using large scale patterned rollers to create marks on a long piece of paper. They enjoyed getting very messy and had lots of fun! Walking through the paint they loved making footprints too!
Outside we used the hollow blocks to create an amazing den; the children helped to make this, they used blankets, tables and more, the den evolved and turned into to a house!
We have been building on shape and number recognition; the children have been busy matching shapes exploring a variety of shape objects and matching it onto a shape mat. They have been busy exploring counting using superheroes, ponies and more. They have also used pebbles to match numerals to quantity which they were amazing at!
Forest School – In Forest school this week we explored loose parts play. The children found natural objects around the garden, and especially enjoyed picking the poppy seeds to roll down the drainpipes! They used a selection of objects such as flowers, pebbles, stones, pinecones, sticks, logs and more! Exploring and investigating the textures, learning where they come from, they loved seeing which would roll down the drainpipes, which were the fastest and the slowest! We compared the weights of the objects; we looked at the different sizes looking at small, medium, and big, we were comparing the pinecones     .
The children then decided to use the objects as rockets… flying them down the drainpipes! They then role played as “good vikings” as they fired objects down the drainpipes using them as their canons because the bad vikings were attacking the village and they were protecting their village! This was all from their own ideas, shared within the loose parts play! Their imaginations were sparked by the magic of nature    .
