Dear Parents / Carers

THANK YOU Thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas Raffle; to those families who bought tickets and those businesses who donated prizes – you helped us raise an amazing £527.40. We would also like to say ‘Thank you’ to Jodie Dobson who kindly asked BGL to fund match, giving us a further £500 donation. You all helped us raise a whopping £1027.40 for the Preschool and OOSC!

Playhouse Activities This Week – This week we have been busy planting bulbs around the garden. We found a caterpillar and lots of snails. The children’s creative juices have been flowing as they helped create our winter display. We built a huge obstacle course with our hollow blocks, and we weren’t allowed to fall in the lava below! Wow .. it was harder than it looks balancing on the beams! We have also been learning about how people live around the world, the differences in how we dress, our houses and what we eat.

Forest School – In Forest school this week we made bird feeders. We talked about the different birds we see in the garden. The children spoke about pigeons, black birds, and robins as well as parrots.  . The children then used string and threaded honey hoops onto them to make mini bird feeders that they then could hang around their gardens at home. The children then asked if we could fill up the bird feeder at the bottom of the garden; the children all took a handful of bird seeds and put them at the bottom of the bird house.

Playhouse Activities Next Week – Next week we will be enjoying dance and movement and we will be planting our summer bulbs.

School Ready – We know it seems a long way off, but this will come round sooner than you want it too. ‘School ready’ sounds like some very scary words! Please don’t worry. It just means that your child can do things independently, listen, follow instructions, and ask for help.

We know it can take longer but please encourage your child to take off and put on their coat and shoes. When they go to school they are expected to put on their shoes and coat; and do it up. If you can get shoes that your child can put on and off independently this really helps build their confidence.

Poo! Please start encouraging your child to try and wipe themselves. When they are at school this is something that needs to be done independently.

Please check out the Peterborough City Council website – START school. This is a guide and a great tick list for getting your child school ready. Please click on CTRL and this link: School readiness – Peterborough City Council

These are all things that we are constantly helping your child with whilst at the Playhouse. Make it fun, there’s no pressure. This is only a guide and if your child can’t do all these things, please don’t worry. We will also add the information onto our Noticeboard for you and the Start booklet is attached to this week’s email.

Holiday Plans – If you are planning a holiday or just going away for a few days, please can you let us know. Many thanks.

Newspapers – If you have any old newspapers, please can you bring them in. We are in desperate need of some, thank you.

Change in Circumstances – If any of your personal or family circumstances change, please don’t hesitate to let us know so that we can help and support your child.

Any help? – Please do not hesitate to speak to staff if you have any concerns or would just like a catch up, we are always available.

Have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
