Dear Parents / Carers

Urgent: John Clare School Staff Car Park – We have received a reminder from John Clare Primary school concerning their staff car park. Parents are not permitted to use the John Clare Staff Car Park between 8.00am and 4.00pm. Please can you ensure anyone dropping off or collecting your child is also aware of these restrictions. Many thanks.

This Week – It’s been another busy week in the OOSC! The children have been playing with dinosaurs; creating amazing magnetic shapes; playing charades, chess, and tables tennis. We’ve also had lots of creative activities with junk modelling and Knex.

Monday – Craft Club – The children made their own bookmarks by origami; they folded paper into different shapes and designs and then decorated them. They were a bit tricky to start!
Tuesday – Science Society – We made snowmen with bicarbonate of soda and then we used vinegar to make them ‘melt’.
Wednesday – Movie & Animation – The children watched Dc League of Superpets; the children really enjoyed it! Our animators found their own resources to make their film this week.
Thursday – Forest school & Den building – We lit the fire outside to keep us warm. We put some chocolate biscuits over the fire to melt. We also found some sticks and the children whittled them down to their bark.
Friday – Baking – Later today we will be we will be making chunky M&M cookies. The children will be weighing and mixing their ingredients.

Next week – Here are some of our planned activities for next week in the OOSC. We will be celebrating Chinese New Year throughout the week and will be sampling different ‘Chinese’ snacks and taking part in different activities.

Monday – Craft Club – We will be celebrating the Chinese New Year by making our very own fortune cookies.
Tuesday – Science Society – With it being very cold, we will be investigating melting ice.
Wednesday – Movie & Animation – The children will be able to decide on their movie and for the resources they would like for their animation.
Thursday – Forest School & Den Building – We will be getting a little dirty, as we will try our hand at Chinese letter writing. We will try and write with mud and water.
Friday – Baking – We will be making apple muffins. The children will be weighing their ingredients and for this recipe they will need to grate their apples.

Have a lovely weekend!
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
