COVID – If your child or a family member tests positive for COVID via an LFD or PCR, please can you let us know. Thank you.
Sanitiser – With the rise in cases of COVID, we have implemented a new measure. Please can you sanitise your hands before pressing the buzzer at the gate. Thank you .. let’s work together to reduce the risk of infection.
This Week – Our new giant Jenga has been very popular this week both inside and outside. Not only has it been used to play the game but also as building blocks and as a domino topple. Outside we’ve had lots of water play to keep everyone cool in this hot weather in addition to our other outside games and resources.
Monday – Gardening, Forest School & Woodwork – This week the children made ‘natural’ mobiles using resources from the garden. We used sticks to construct our base and then used string and various items to decorate it. The children used lavender, rosemary, and grasses. Some children also added beads which were threaded onto pipe cleaners. They looked amazing!
Tuesday – Science Society – We used the motion of a pendulum to paint this week. To achieve this, we hung a pot of watery paint from a tripod and as it swung backwards and forwards the paint dripped out leaving patterns on the paper underneath.
Wednesday –– Movie Club – In our movie club the children watched ‘Paddington 2’ and the children enjoyed ice lollies. It was nice to be cool and relax!
Thursday – Craft Club – We punched holes around the outside of a circle of card and then added wool tassels as a mane when we made lion faces this week!
Friday – Baking – This afternoon we will be holding our very own Helpston Playhouse Bake off!!

Next Week – Here are some of our planned activities for next week in the OOSC.
Monday – Gardening, Forest School & Woodwork – We will continue to make wooden mobiles just smaller versions so the children can take them home. There will be lots of materials available; sticks, string, beads, and wool to mention a few!
Tuesday – Science Society – We will attempt to make a ball hover in the air.
Wednesday – End of Term Party – We will be holding our End of Term Party and we will celebrate with hot dogs and treats.
Thursday – Craft Club – We will be using different materials to make butterflies.
Friday – Baking – We will be making biscuits in the morning during preschool, they will then be cool enough for the children to decorate with different toppings in the OOSC.
