Dear Parents / Carers

Playhouse Activities This Week – This week we have been enjoying many activities with Christmas, the children have made salt dough decorations and we hope everyone loves them! We would love to see them at home .. maybe on your Christmas tree. Please can you take some photo’s of your Christmas tree and decorations and ask your families to share their trees and salt dough decorations too. Please can you add these onto Tapestry so that we can share these with the children, they would love to see their friends Christmas trees and decorations. We have enjoyed scented peppermint rice in our sensory play, we used a candy cane red and white theme! We have enjoyed Christmas playdough with a cinnamon scent, and many more Christmas activities! We have been sharing the nativity story with the children and sharing the meaning of Christmas, we will continue this next week too. We have also been learning about Hanukkah.

Forest School – In Forest school this week we are starting to feel even more Christmassy! The children explored an ice star with hidden treasures. As they broke and melted the star they found pine, herbs, conifer, leaves, berries and orange. They used their senses to feel the textures and smell the treasures. We also made some jingle sticks for our concert next week; threading bells and winding pipe cleaners. They sound very Christmassy!

Playhouse Activities Next Week – Next week we will continue to learn about Hanukkah, the Jewish celebration and the nativity story. We will have more Christmas celebrations and we will have our Christmas Carols and Christmas party.

Library Books – Please can you make sure all library books are returned next week. We will have a break for Christmas and then we’ll be swapping our books around for next term!

Words for Life – Would you like to win a £20 AMAZON voucher?  Words for Life & Hungry Little Minds are asking all parents and carers to fill out a short survey. Surveys can be slightly dull to fill out, so to make it a bit more exciting, when you complete the survey you will be entered into a draw to win a £20 Amazon voucher – just in time for Christmas!  This survey will provide important feedback to make sure they are sending you the right information to help you and your family. Words for Life in partnership with Hungry Little Minds Newsletter Survey (literacytrust.org.uk)

They would love to see photos or videos of you and your child carrying out any chat, play  or read activities. If you would like to share these, please do so on social media with the hashtag #HungryLittleMinds.

Reminder: Preschool Christmas Party – Our Christmas Party will be held on Friday 18th December from 12.00 – 2.15pm. We will have activities, games, and a few festive treats & a visit from Santa. If your child does not normally attend on a Friday afternoon and you would like him/her to attend the Christmas Party please feel free to book them in for that session, please just send us an email.

COVID Positive Test – We’ve also attached a really useful guide from Peterborough City Council which details support available to families who may need additional support during self-isolation.

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe.
