Reminder: John Clare School Staff Car Park – Parents are not permitted to use the John Clare Staff Car Park between 8.00am and 4.00pm.
Reminder: Absence & Pick-ups – If your child is unable to attend any of our sessions, including Early Bird and/or Breakfast Club or there is a change to pick up, please make sure you let us know so that we can ensure the safety of your child. Please also update John Clare if your child is at Primary school.
This Week – The wet weather has meant a mostly indoor week, but we’ve had great fun with role play turning the home corner into a garden centre, vets, pizza restaurant and breakfast cafe. Finger knitting and pom-pom making have been popular again this week, as has the Mobilo.
Science Society – Here are the results of our 3D printing, we used layers of sand and PVA glue.
Monday – Craft Club – We made pom pom hedgehogs from wool using our pom pom maker. The pom poms were glued onto felt or paper hedgehog bodies.
Tuesday – Science Society – This week we used cups of coloured water and paper towels to colour mix into cups of clear water. It was a lot of fun watching the colour travel across the paper towels and make new colours. Wednesday – Animation – Our animators used dinosaurs to show some children trying animation for the first time how it works.
Wednesday – Cinema Club – The children enjoyed watching Minions; The Rise of Gru this week whilst snacking on their popcorn.
Thursday – Forest school & Den building – We brought our den making inside this week due to the very wet weather and our ‘Autumn Leaf Kebab’ making was postponed. The children used tables and blankets to create their cosy dens to hibernate into. We even had a pretend fire.
Friday – Baking – It’s Pudsey Day so we will be making our own Pudsey cookies. The children will be weighing and mixing their ingredients, making their cookies, and decorating them ready to bring home.

Next week – Here are some of our planned activities for next week in the OOSC.
Monday – Craft Club – We will be salt painting. We will use a technique using salt and paint to create beautiful, textured art.
Tuesday – Science Society – In our science session we will be looking at colour again as we use sweets for colour diffusion.
Wednesday – Animation & Cinema Club – In our movie club, the children will be watching Superpets. Our Animators have asked if they can make an underwater themed film.
Thursday – Forest school & Den Building and KS2 Gaming – The children will be den building outside and we will be having a proper campfire with marshmallows.
Friday – Cookery club – We will be making indulgent chocolate brownies from cocoa powder to create yummy chocolate fudge brownies.
