Committee Roles – Thank you for your interest in our Chair & Treasurer positions, we are pleased to confirm these have now been filled. Thank you.
Committee – Raffle Prizes – It’s that time of year when we are starting to organise our Xmas raffle. If anyone is willing to donate a prize or knows of any business that might like to donate a prize, then please get in touch. We are currently fundraising for ‘experiences’, such as trips out for our preschool children’ and extra resources for our OOSC.
Thank you – ‘Thank you’ for your continued fundraising, we have just purchased a Table tennis for the older children, they’ve really enjoyed using it this week.
Friends of John Clare Halloween Party – Thursday 20th October – If your child attends John Clare Primary and will be attending the Halloween party, please let us know if you would like us to drop them off (if they are normally in the OOSC on a Thursday):
Reception/ KS1 – 4.45pm – 5.30pm
KS2 – 5.30pm – 6.30pm
Reminder – John Clare School Staff Car Park – We’ve had a reminder from John Clare school: parents are not permitted to use their staff car park between 8.00am and 4.00pm.
Absence & Pick-ups – If your child is unable to attend any of our sessions, including Early Bird and/or Breakfast Club or there is a change to pick up, please make sure you let us know so that we can ensure the safety of your child. Please also update John Clare if your child is at Primary school.
This Week – The children have had great fun playing with our new table tennis table this week. We’ve also been creative with junk modelling and played card games. We’ve spent lots of time playing in the garden using our outside resources with the tractor and trikes being very popular
Monday – Den Building & Construction – This week the children made twig owls. We had great fun collecting sticks from the garden. We cut out a cardboard owl and arranged our sticks to create our ‘twig owls’.
Tuesday – Science Society – We made gloop using cornflour, water and food colouring and learned why it can be both liquid and solid. It was also amazing fun to play with!
Wednesday – Animation – Our animators decided upon an underwater theme again this week as we moved our film making indoors.
Thursday – Craft Club – We used our handprints and paintbrushes to make bonfire pictures using yellow, orange and red paint for the flames and brown paint for the wood.
Friday – Baking – Today we will be making calzone, folded pizza. We will be rolling out dough into circles and we will be adding our favourite fillings.

Next Week – Here are some of our planned activities for next week in the OOSC. On Wednesday we will celebrate Diwali, the festival of light with music, dancing, food, and tattoos. We will embrace this culture a little early due to half term. Thursday is also the Friends of John Clare Halloween Party.
Monday – Den Building & Construction – We will collect all our resources to build our dens, we will be adding some spooky Halloween decorations inside.
Tuesday – Science Society – If we can get a long cardboard tube, we will use it as a didgeridoo to make sounds.
Wednesday – Animation – Our animators will be using playdough to make monsters for a Halloween themed film.
Thursday – Craft Club & KS2 Gaming – We will be using beads to make necklaces, bracelets and bag charms.
