COVID – If your child or a family member tests positive for COVID via an LFD or PCR, please can you let us know. Thank you.
Sanitiser – With the rise in cases of COVID, we have implemented a new measure. Please can you sanitise your hands before pressing the buzzer at the gate. Thank you .. let’s work together to reduce the risk of infection.
This Week – We had some surprise visitors to the Playhouse this week; we found a hedgehog hiding under some plants one evening and Charlotte had quite a surprise when she found herself playing next to a frog on the mud kitchen! We’ve had lots of roleplays outside with an ice cream shop and greengrocers. We had some water play to cool everyone down. We’ve also played with the giant chess and dominoes under the shade of the trees, and we’ve done lots of Disney colouring.
Monday – Gardening, Forest School & Woodwork – This week the children decided to postpone the tyre painting and wanted to have a woodworking session. The children found pieces of wood and using nails they made various objects.
Tuesday – Science Society – We used balloons to demonstrate how jet engines work by attaching inflated balloons to a straw threaded onto a stretch piece of string. When the balloons were released, they flew along the string at high speed. This was great fun, but we did have a few popped balloons!
Wednesday –– Movie Club – In our movie club the children watched ‘Nanny McPhee’ and Toy Story’. Toy Story was the clear favourite, the children commented ‘we loved it’.
Thursday – Craft Club – We cut strips of coloured paper and glued them together to make flowers. We the used single strips of paper to join the flowers together to make a long garland. Some children used single colours while some used mixed colours, but they all looked amazing. The children loved this activity so much they continued to make their flowers in Breakfast club this morning!
Friday – Baking – This afternoon we will making savoury muffins and the children can add a choice of fillings to include cheese, sun dried tomatoes, olives, onions and/or peppers.

Next Week – Here are some of our planned activities for next week in the OOSC.
Monday – Gardening, Forest School & Woodwork – We will be making wooden mobiles. There will be lots of materials available; sticks, string, beads, and wool to mention a few!
Tuesday – Science Society – We will be using the motion of a pendulum to paint pictures.
Wednesday – Movie Club – Next week’s film will be Paddington 2, the children’s choice!
Thursday – Craft Club – We will be using card and wool to make lion and sun faces!
Friday – Baking – We will be holding our very own Helpston Playhouse Bake off!!
