Dear Parents/Carers.

Your child is very busy throughout the day at Pre-school and to help them keep their energy levels up it is important that the lunch box is full of nutritious foods. Please also consider the amount of food your child has in their lunch box, we offer snacks in the morning and afternoon so they won’t go hungry! The snack menu is displayed within the cloak room and we always write on the outside white board about what the snack of the day was.

New ideas  on what you would like to see you child offered for snack are always welcome. Our Suggestion box is located within the cloak room or please feel free to speak to a member of staff.

A balanced pack lunch should contain:-

  • Starchy foods. These are bread, rice, potatoes and pasta. (Preferable brown bread)
  • Protein foods. These are meat, fish, eggs, beans.
  • A diary item. This could be cheese and yoghurt.
  • Vegetables or salad, and a portion of fruit

We understand that children love to have a treat but we would prefer that children to not have chocolate or sweets within their lunch box.

Drinks

Juice drinks can contain high volumes of sugar and it is recommended that children drink water and milk rather than sweeten juice. Water and milk are always available and children are able to access this by themselves. But obviously it is important that your child doesn’t become dehydrated so if they are reluctant to drink water, then we would advise that it is sugar free and watered down.
