OOSC – Weekly Update 28th April 2023

By April 28, 2023 Uncategorized No Comments

This Week – Knitting has been a popular activity taking place this week with a lot of the children having a go. We even watched an online tutorial to help us learn how to do it. Outside the children have been helping with the gardening.
Monday –
The children had great fun moving soil to fill the new vegetable planters near the fairy garden. The children also had great fun in our Mud kitchen; they made their own fruits and tried out their own recipes.
Tuesday – Forest School –
After collecting petals, leaves, and herbs from the garden we stuck them onto contact paper and then folded the paper to seal them inside. We then made holes in the four corners and used string to tie twigs top and bottom to add weight and balance before adding more string to hang them from. The suncatchers looked amazing!      Wednesday – Games & Challenges – We set up the hula hoops and bean bags, but the children wanted to continue moving the soil instead. This time they added the soil to the flower beds.
Thursday – Craft & Sewing – We used stencils as templates to cut out shapes from sheets of craft foam and then used cocktail sticks to make holes in the foam. We then used needle and thread to sew between the holes to make our patterns.
Friday – Baking – We will be making puff pastry and jam straws; the children will be able to choose some of their ingredients!

Next Week – Here are some of our planned activities for next week.

Monday – Bank holiday!!
Tuesday – Forest School –
For our Coronation themed week we will be making nature crowns from items found in our garden.
Wednesday – Games & Challenges – We will be holding our very own Darts Competition. We also have a selection of board games to play with.
Thursday – Craft & Sewing – We will be using buttons as jewels, and we will be sewing these onto felt shaped crowns to create Coronation hanging decorations.
Friday – Baking – The children will be preparing their own party food and then sitting down to enjoy their food at our Coronation Tea Party.

Have a lovely weekend!
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
