Dear Parents / Carers
AGM – Our AGM is being held on Tuesday 11th October at 7.30pm at the Playhouse. We look forward to seeing you.
We need you .. Can you spare an hour a month? Or do you know someone who could spare us an hour a month? We are looking for a Chair & Treasurer. Without these two key roles our setting will close. Please contact our Chair, Pip Power if you are interested.
Reminder – John Clare School Staff Car Park – We’ve had a reminder from John Clare school: parents are not permitted to use their staff car park between 8.00am and 4.00pm.
Absence & Pick-ups – If your child is unable to attend any of our sessions, including Early Bird and/or Breakfast Club or there is a change to pick up, please make sure you let us know so that we can ensure the safety of your child. Please also update John Clare if your child is at Primary school.
This Week – This week we’ve been very creative with junk modelling and made necklaces and bracelets with beads. Outside the trikes and scooters have been very popular.
Monday – Den Building & Construction – This week the children worked in teams to construct the bird boxes. They took it in turns to use the hammer and nails. The children then painted them.
Tuesday – Science Society – The children had great fun watching an orange floating and then falling into a smaller cup when a piece of card was pulled out from under it as we looked at inertia this week. We did find that the card needed pulling quickly for this to work.
Wednesday – Animation – The weather prevented us from using the garden for our jungle background, the children creatively used leaves and flowers for this week’s film.
Thursday – Craft Club – We used wool, foam sheets and wooden spoons to create scarecrows. Some children decided to make cats and pumpkins with the spoons instead. They were amazing!
Friday – Baking – Today we will be making vegetable lasagne in a change to our planned session. The children will be chopping their own vegetables and preparing ready to layer with their sauces.

Next Week – Here are some of our planned activities for next week in the OOSC.
Monday – Den Building & Construction – We will be making twig owls. We will cut out a cardboard owl shape and we will collect twigs from the garden which we will add onto the card to create our ‘twig owls’.
Tuesday – Science Society – We will be making ‘goo’ this week and we’ll be looking at why it acts like a solid and liquid.
Wednesday – Animation – Our animators will have the opportunity to create a film using their own ideas, a nice free flow session.
Thursday – Craft Club & KS2 Gaming – We will be using painted hand prints to make bonfire pictures.
Friday – Baking – We will be making calzone, folded pizza. We will be rolling out dough into circles and we will be adding our favourite fillings.
