Dear Parents / Carers
AGM – Please accept our sincere apologies, due to unforeseen circumstances, the date of our AGM has changed. Our AGM is now being held on Tuesday 11th October at 7.30pm at the Playhouse. We look forward to seeing you.
Committee – Would you like to join our committee? We are always looking for new members, but we do have a vacancy for our Treasurer role. Please contact our Chair, Pip Power if you are interested.
Reminder – John Clare School Staff Car Park – We’ve had a reminder from John Clare school: parents are not permitted to use their staff car park between 8.00am and 4.00pm.
Absence & Pick-ups – If your child is unable to attend any of our sessions, including Early Bird and/or Breakfast Club or there is a change to pick up, please make sure you let us know so that we can ensure the safety of your child. Please also update John Clare if your child is at Primary school.
This Week – Inside the children have had great fun cutting and sticking from catalogues this week, playing with playdough and using wool for finger knitting. Outside we’ve been watching the squirrel again and using our outside resources.
Monday – Den Building & Construction – The children constructed Geo boards from wood, nails, and rubber bands. The children started off with a piece of rough wood, they sanded it smooth, they hammered in their nails and attached the bands to create amazing art!
Tuesday – Science Society – We filled plastic bottles with yeast, sugar, flour, and water and then placed balloons over the top of the bottle. The yeast reacted with the other ingredients giving off carbon dioxide gas which inflated the balloons.
Wednesday – Animation – This week our animators created an under the sea film. They used an under the sea background and plastic sea creatures.
Thursday – Craft Club – We used water and felt tin pens to create water colour pictures. Poppy used this method to create an amazing UFO!
Friday – Baking – Today we will be making apple and cinnamon cupcakes. The children will be measuring their flour and butter. They’ll be peeling and grating their apples and mixing all their ingredients to make delicious cupcakes!

Next Week – Here are some of our planned activities for next week in the OOSC.
Monday – Den Building & Construction – This week the children will be constructing bird boxes. They will be using nails to hold them together and they will be sanding and painting them.
Tuesday – Science Society – We will be using an orange to demonstrate inertia; Sir Isaac Newton’s first law.
Wednesday – Animation – Our animators will be creating a jungle film if the weather allows us to film outside.
Thursday – Craft Club & KS2 Gaming – We will be making wooden spoon scarecrows.
Friday – Baking – We will be making calzone; folded pizza. We will be rolling out dough into circles and we will be adding our favourite flings.
