Welcome back and we hope you all had a lovely Christmas!  It has definitely become colder and with that in mind, please ensure you send in gloves, hat and a warm coat! We always embrace the weather and we’re always outside even in the colder months.

Playhouse Activities This Week – We have started our topic this term, we are looking at people who help us. We have focused on Ambulance and paramedics and have looked at how they help us and what we need to do if we need them. The children were delighted when it snowed for about three minutes yesterday afternoon.  The children have been investigating the ice on these frosty mornings. They’ve looked around the garden and have been learning about how water freezes. The birds have been fed and our squirrels keep appearing, helping themselves to the food in the bird feeder.

Forest School – In Forest school we have explored loose parts play. The children had some chocolate box trays and tubs, they filled them with conkers, corks, wooden discs, and cones. We pretended they were chocolates and sweets. Then they rolled the pieces down the pipe. We looked to see what item was the fastest; the children decided it was the conkers because they are round! We sorted all the pieces to tidy up ready for next time. Great sorting and teamwork!

Playhouse Activities Next Week – Next week we will have a hospital theme; we’ll have our own hospital, and we will pretend to be doctors and nurses. There will be bandages to play with, which will be interesting !We will also have woodworking activities and we will be sawing and sanding.

Home activity – This week’s home activity is all about bedtime. There are some great ideas Tapestry for a successful bedtime routine. If you would like any further help or advice, please don’t hesitate to speak to your child’s key worker or a member of staff. Happy sleeping!

Nut Free – Just a reminder that we are a nut free setting, please avoid any nut related foods in your child’s packed lunch. Thank you. If you would like any further advice, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Literacy event – We are very excited to have Lisa from the National Literacy Trust joining us on Friday 14th January, between 1.00 – 2.00pm. Lisa is our Literacy ‘lead person’ for Peterborough and she is going to deliver a fantastic interactive story followed by an activity relating to the story!

After the session at 1.45pm there will be a fantastic “chat session” for parents and carers. This will be a hugely beneficial session sharing information all about your child’s early literacy skills and ways to support their learning at home! This will include many aspects such as early reading, writing, environmental print and many more aspects which will hugely benefit your child’s literacy development and skills!

This session will be outside for fifteen minutes with Lisa, please could you email in or let us know if you could attend this session by Wednesday the 12th. We would love for you to join us!

Any help? –
Please do not hesitate to speak to staff if you have any concerns or would just like a catch up, we are always available.

Have a lovely weekend!
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
