Playhouse Activities This Week This week our theme has been ladybirds and the children have been very interested in bug hunting. The children have enjoyed the mud kitchen. We have been reading a selection of ‘What the ladybird heard’ books .. the children have loved these stories. We have been enjoying ring and parachute games. The children enjoyed doing some dancing for Ollie’s birthday.

Forest School – In Forest School we read Walters Wonderful Web. We met Walter who is friendly and sparkly. He makes lots of webs in different shapes. We explored shapes; we chalked round shapes, created shapes with loom bands on the geo boards and coloured in the tuff tray to see what shapes are left after peeling the tape. What a fun time we had!

Playhouse Activities Next Week – Next week we will continue with lifecycles and the children’s interest in bug hunting. And we have some exciting news … we have our own caterpillars which we are observing, and we will continue to keep an eye on them and we will release as butterflies in a few weeks.

Letter of the Week – Our letter of the Week will be ‘n’. We will use resources from the playhouse as we are not yet able to accept items from home.

Monthly Makaton Sign – May’s Makaton sign which we are going to learn is ‘share’. Please have a go at home, remember to sign and say the word together. Go slow and show.

Colds, Coughs and Sneezes – Please can you help us to prevent the spread of germs in our setting. If you could please encourage your child to sneeze or cough into their arm; wipe their nose, pop the tissue in the bin and wash their hands; this is a great way to encourage independence too! If your child is not well, please keep them at home. Thank you.

Reminder: Belongings – It would be great if you could label any items being brought into the Playhouse. We’re trying our very best to make sure everyone has their belongings with them; name labels and a quick check before you leave, would be fantastic. Some of our parents (and staff) use My Nametags, they offer some great stick-on labels for all items. If you would like some more details, please ask Sam.

National Literacy Trust – Firstly a huge ‘Thank you’ to you for taking part and registering for the Hungry Little Minds newsletter.  With your help our setting has been recognised as an ‘Outstanding Volunteer for the Hungry Little Minds Campaign’ (this includes the NLT) for our dedication in supporting families to chat, play and read with their children. We were awarded a £10 voucher which we will spend on new books and received three dual language books. We have a Hungry Little Minds goody bag for you and your child which we will be sending home over the next few weeks.

Any help? –
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you need any support, ideas or just a chat we are always available.
