Dear Parents / Carers

Important Updates:
Items from home – Just a polite reminder that due to the current pandemic we are unfortunately unable to allow children to bring in items from home, for example, cuddly toys, comforters etc.. Only essential items are currently permitted. We will let you know as soon as this restriction is lifted.
Collection of children – As we are now in ‘Lockdown 2’ only one parent should be collecting their child from the Playhouse. Please can you let us know if you have a Support Bubble in operation and it’s members. Your child can only be picked up by a parent or member of your Support Bubble. Thank you for your assistance.

Playhouse Activities This Week – We hope you all had a lovely half-term. This week we have been busy creating some lovely firework pictures and we have been talking about fire work safety. We have been learning about ‘caring for our teeth’. We have also had lots of fun performing Billy Goats Gruff puppet shows.

Forest School this Week – In Forest School today we have had a fire in the fire pit. We have talked about fire safety and how to be around the fire. Fire can be fun and we changed its colour! We made hot chocolate and listened to the story about The Nights Dragon. We also had a fire in the tuff tray and we used water sprays to put it out!

Playhouse Activities Next Week – Next week we will continue with our teeth theme and we will learn about Diwali – the Hindu Festival of Light.

Cooler Weather – With the weather turning a little cooler and crisp, please can you bring in a hat, gloves and a warm coat for your child. We will continue to play outside as much as we can and especially for Forest school activities.

Sound of the Week – Our sound of the Week will be ‘t’. We will use resources from the playhouse as we are not yet able to accept items from home.

Invoice Payments – If you are experiencing any financial difficulties due to the current COVID-19 epidemic or would like to discuss your account further, please do not hesitate to contact Sam by email.

Applying for Primary School – Just a reminder .. if your child was born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017, and you live in Peterborough you need to apply for a Reception place at Primary School.  The deadline for applications is 15 January 2021, please don’t leave it to the last minute just in case of technical difficulties.

Free Parent Information sessions – I CAN, the Children’s communication charity are offering FREE parent information sessions for parents of babies, called ‘How babies learn to talk’. The online sessions are for parents of babies from 0-18 months and talk through early stages in communication and what parents can do to help. Parents can sign up by following the SurveyMonkey by clicking this link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/7QDCYYX and entering their details. ICAN will send them a Zoom link to come along and join the FREE information session which lasts about half an hour. We’ve also attached a few information posters from I CAN – Ages & Stages: Speaking More than Language: 5 Key Messages & an invitation to the Parent Information sessions.

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe.
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
