Letter of the Week – Our chosen letter for our next session is ‘d’! Please can your child bring in an item which has a ‘d’.
Makaton – This is a language using signs and symbols; we are going to learn ‘please, thank you’
Playhouse Activities This Week – This week we have been reading the Sun Safe story .. Slip, Slop slap! We’ve been looking at Egyptians and some of the children have looked at hieroglyphic’s. We’ve looked at the life cycle of ladybirds. We’ve been colour mixing, we’ve talked about keeping fit and how exercise effects our bodies. We’ve also had an ice cream parlour as our role play and we’ve held our first Stay & Play session.
Playhouse Activities Next Session – Next week we are going to practice blending and rhyming. We’ll be making cheese straws. We’ll be having some exercise sessions and we’ll observe how exercise makes our heart beat faster and keeps us healthy. Our chicks arrive too. The children will be observing them within the incubator and we’ll be watching and waiting for them to hatch.
Junk Modelling – Please feel free to bring in your empty and clean recycling for us to use in our junk modelling.
Chicken Pox – Please watch out for any symptoms! We’ve had a second child fall ill.
Reminder … Dates for your Diary – Here are a few dates for your diary:
27th June from 9.00am – 10.00am Stay & Play sessions Parents, carers and Grandparents are welcome to our Stay & Play sessions, you have the opportunity for an insight into your child’s day.
18th July 1.00pm – 3.15pm Pre-school Party: If your child is not in on this day you can book your child into the Preschool session or you can come in and stay with your child.
19th July 1.45pm – Leavers Parents Only: You are invited into the Playhouse at 1.45pm.
Car Park – John Clare Primary – Just a reminder that for Preschool parents and grandparents we are not permitted to use the John Clare Staff Car park unless you are a blue badge holder. Please can you remind anyone that drops off or picks up your child. Thank you.
Sepsis – We’ve just received a new poster from the NHS – What every parent needs to know and this is on display in the corridor. This is about sepsis, blood poisoning and this can be fatal for young children. If you would like more information on what to look out for please visit www.nhs.uk/conditions/sepsis
Ideas for the Weekend – How about some Maths … you could do a number or shape hunt around the house or on a walk. This is a great way for your child to enjoy maths in a really fun way! Here are a few ideas on how to support your child recognising numbers and shapes at home!
It’s something that you probably never think of, but there are so many shapes and numbers within your home and outside. Why not have some fun and see if you child can recognise different shapes and numbers.
Summer Weather – We are really hoping that the sun is here to stay …. Please remember the Sun Safe rules!
Ice Lollies for Sale – With the weather warming up the Friends of John Clare will be selling ice lollies after school on a Friday in the school playground … providing it is warm and sunny.
Family Disco – If you would like your child to go to the Family Disco on Friday 28th June, please let us know as soon as possible .. it’s £3.00 per child and includes a drink and hot dog! Please pop your money into a sealed, named envelope, marked ‘Disco’. Please let us know if your child has any dietary requirements. Tickets are selling fast!!
AGM – Our AGM is being held on Thursday 19th September in the Village Hall at 7.30pm.
