Dear Parents / Carers

Please find below this week’s Weekly Update!

Letter of the Week – Our chosen letter for our next session is ‘c’! Please can your child bring in an item which has a ‘c’!

Playhouse Activities This Week – This week has been all about Autumn, we’ve played lots of turn taking games, we’ve been colour mixing. We’ve also had lots of sensory play and parachute games. We’ve been down to the nature area and we’ve also done our Cosmic yoga!

Playhouse Activities Next Session – After half term we are going to have an ‘Under the sea’ theme, we are also going to look at animals, Hanukkah (Jewish) and shapes. We will talk about India and Diwali, the Festival of light. We will also look at different types of boats. We will also have a visit from the Encore Dance Academy, every other Thursday and we’ll be trying ballet, modern dance, pop, parachute and we’ll be learning about music tempo. This starts on the 8th November. On a Wednesday & Friday we will visit the nature area for those children wanting to participate. Your child will need wellies, a hat, trousers, warm coat and gloves.. we will ensure they visit every other week, minimum, as we are keeping to smaller groups to ensure they make the most of their time in the area.

Dates for the Diary – here are a few dates for your diary!
Divali – On the 7th November we will have a visitor into the Preschool to carry out some Divali activities and to talk to us about the culture.
Children in Need – 12th to 16th November we will have lots of Pudsey activities and on the Friday, your child can come in the Pj’s. Please bring in £1.00 for Children in Need.
Wreath Making Party – 7th December, you can now book your tickets for the Wreath Making Party.

Vision for Reading – Peterborough City Council are having a celebration of reading with their Vision for Reading Campaign. The National Literary Trust ‘Words for Life’ website is fantastic for help & inspiration: http://www.wordsforlife.org.uk/. Please take some reading selfies and share them with us, put them on Tapestry or email and we will add them onto our Reading display. Here are a few top tips and don’t forget ‘lead by example’
* Notice letters and numbers on journeys
* Play ‘I Spy’ with letters or colours
* Try books on CD or DVD
* Sing a song together
* Make up stories at bathtime or bedtime.
Happy reading!

Phonics Workshops – just a reminder these workshops are for one parent only. You can bring younger siblings if you need to but the sessions are aimed at parents (not children).

Activities for Half Term – if you are looking for things to do, have a look at West Lodge Farm.. they have lots of activities this half term and the children really enjoyed their visit earlier this year!

Have a lovely half term!

Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
