9th – 13th June 2025
What We’ve Been Learning:
This week, we’ve been busy bees ourselves learning all about how bees make honey! The children created some fantastic beehives, drew beautiful pictures of bees, and even had the amazing opportunity to watch real bees collecting nectar from flowers in the garden.
Shape Hunt Fun:
We also went on an environmental shape hunt around the garden! The children used cameras to snap photos of the shapes they discovered in nature. Circles, squares, triangles—shapes are everywhere once you start looking!
Sound of the Week: a
We’ve been working hard on our sound of the week: “a” (as in apple).
Please remember, when helping your child sound out their name, try to use phonological (phonic) sounds rather than letter names. At school, we use phonic sounds to build words, so learning these early helps support reading and writing later on.
For example:
– Instead of saying “A” as in “ay”, say “a” as in “apple”.
Next Week: Farm Trip!
We’re excited for our farm trip next week!
Details about the schedule and what your child will need to bring will be sent home on Monday. Get ready for a fun day full of animals and fresh air!
Reminders:
– Please label all clothing and lunch boxes.
– Send in a named water bottle each day.
– Dress appropriately for the weather—we go outside in most conditions!
