Dear Parents / Carers
Playhouse Activities This Week – WOW, Ark Farm was A FABULOUS EXPERIENCE!! The children were able to have a hands-on experience, stroking a beautiful dog, Roux and rabbits, guinea pigs and a skinny pig! Please pop in to see our photo display to see all the amazing animals. The children were delighted and so brave, they were very gentle and very close!
The sunflowers are making a speedy appearance. Fingers crossed these will survive! The children have been carrying out some woodworking, they have been hammering and learning to use tools safely and with control.
Forest School – In Forest school this week we talked about the different types of birds we see in our gardens. We looked at pictures of birds we may see around the garden and what sort of nests they build too. The children went around the garden foraging for any sticks, twigs, grass, leaves, and items they thought would be good to make a bird’s nest. We talked about how the eggs would be kept warm in the nest and about what sorts of birds could live there too. The children worked well together as a team helping each other and made an amazing bird nest!
Playhouse Activities Next Week – Waterside Garden Centre has kindly donated some seeds; we will be busy sewing them next week. We will be making bread and we’ll be watching the dough expand. The children will be enjoying kneading and the feel of the dough, and we will create some delicious bread rolls.
Helpstonbury – We’ve sent home slips about our Sweetie Tombola for Helpstonbury and we are still collecting items for our Tombola (adults and children’s). Any donations are very gratefully received. Thank you.
Half Term – Don’t forget Half Term is coming at the end of next week. We’ve also attached our very own Preschool Term dates for 2023 – 2024; we’ve decided to stay open on some of the John Clare Staff Training days to reduce the time we are closed. This decision has been made to help you especially those working parents where annual leave is precious.
Reminder: Warmer Weather & Being Sun Safe – Please could you bring in a named sun cream that can be left at the Playhouse for your child. Sun cream needs UVA & UVB protection. It is essential that sun cream is applied by you in the morning, and we will re-apply at lunchtime. Please can you also provide a named sun hat. Thank you.
Reminder: Holiday Plans & Change in Circumstances – Please remember to let us know if you are planning a holiday or just going away for a few days or if there are any changes to your family circumstances. This is to ensure that we can care for your child’s wellbeing and offer any support they need.
Reminder: Change of Clothes – Please can you bring in a change of clothes for every session. We are running very low on spare clothes, and this is limiting the clothing available. If you have any playhouse clothing at home, please can you wash and return as soon as possible. Thank you.
Dates for your Diary – Here are details of key dates for your diary:
Saturday 17th June – Helpstonbury.
Reminder: Nut Free Setting – We are a nut free setting. Please can you ensure there are no ‘nut related’ items in packed lunches in case of any nut related allergies e.g. peanut butter. Many thanks.
Any help? – Please do not hesitate to speak to staff if you have any concerns or would just like a catch up, we are always available.
Have a lovely weekend!
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
