Dear Parents / Carers
AGM – We would like to invite you to our AGM on Tuesday 27th September. Please note the new time of 7.30pm at the Playhouse. We look forward to seeing you.
Committee – Would you like to join our committee? We are always looking for new members, but we do have a vacancy for our Treasurer role. Please contact our Chair, Pip Power if you are interested.
Reminder – John Clare School Staff Car Park – We’ve had a reminder from John Clare school: parents are not permitted to use their staff car park between 8.00am and 4.00pm.
This Week – We had an additional visitor in OOSC this week – a squirrel regularly visited the tree and we all enjoyed watching it. We’ve made playdough and had a go at knitting too. We were gifted a roll of paper for colouring which the children have really enjoyed. The children have made some amazing creations with junk modelling.
Tuesday – Science Society – We used water and clear nail polish to transfer rainbow patterns on black paper. When the paper dries and the light shines on it the layers of varnish create rainbow patterns. There were some amazing, pretty art!
Wednesday – Animation – This week our animators decided to use dinosaurs in their film making. Our more experienced children are being very supportive to those who have just started. The children are beginning to understand how time-consuming the process is.
Thursday – Craft Club – We used wool, wood, twigs, and resources from the garden to make autumn loom crafts. The children created some lovely patterns, including their own initials.
Friday – Baking – Today we will be making a warming potato bake; we will peel and slice potatoes and then we will arrange them into a dish with layers of cream and cheese.

Next Week – Here are some of our planned activities for next week in the OOSC.
Monday – Den Building & Construction – This week the children will be constructing Geo boards from wood. They will using wooden shapes, adding nails and then rubber bands to create their geo art on their boards.
Tuesday – Science Society – We are hoping for warm weather as we try to inflate balloons with yeast!
Wednesday – Animation – Our animators will have free reign to use resources from the Playhouse and the gardens to create their film this week.
Thursday – Craft Club & KS2 Gaming – We will be using water and felt tin pens to design a water colour tree.
Friday – Baking – We will be making apple and cinnamon cupcakes. The children will be measuring their flour and butter. They’ll be peeling and grating their apples and mixing all their ingredients to make delicious cupcakes!
