Mental Health Week – This week is Mental Health Week and the theme this year is loneliness. Feeling lonely is something we can all experience at any point in our lives. It can make us feel isolated and have a negative impact on our wellbeing. If any of your personal or family circumstances change, please don’t hesitate to let us know so that we can help and support your child.
This Week – Another wet Wednesday meant we had to spend a bit of time inside before the weather cleared up. The rest of the week was spent outside enjoying the warm sunshine. We had a games evening outside: we took the pool table, chess, and dominoes outside to play in the garden and had an outside car wash on Thursday. Inside the loom bands, Hama beads and Knex have been popular.
Monday – Woodwork & Construction – We completed our bird boxes! After nailing the final pieces into place, we painted them using timber paint. They look amazing!
Tuesday – Science Society – We made string telephones using plastic cups and string. They work by sending vibrations along the string; we found that the string needed to be pulled tight for them to work. The children were very excited when they heard their friends’ messages come through! Wednesday – Gardening & Forest School – We added some dahlias and marrows into our borders this week. With the rain delaying our start, we didn’t make our bug hotel but, we’ll save this activity for another day.
Thursday – Den Building – The children made a family-sized tent with lovely flooring and cosy cushions. We ate our jacket potatoes outside in our tent!
Thursday – Craft Club – We made fabric flowers using fabric, buttons, and pipe cleaners. The sewing was quite tricky and with a little help, the children made some beautiful flowers!
Friday – Baking – This afternoon we will be making meat kebabs and vegetable kebabs and a side salad! The meat kebabs will be made using minced beef, herbs and spices and will be added to a skewer for the children to bring home and cook. The children will prepare a salad from cucumber, tomatoes, lettuce and a dressing.
Next Week – We will have a lot of outdoor activities and we’ll be making the most of our garden!
Monday – Woodwork & Construction – We will be sanding and decorating wooden discs to make coasters.
Tuesday – Science Society – We will be making parachutes to investigate air resistance.
Wednesday – Gardening & Forest School – We will be planting some more flowers next week along with courgettes and sweetcorn.
Thursday – Den Building – With the children enjoying our family sized tent, we will continue with our ‘Camping’ theme, we will also add some bunting!
Thursday – Craft Club – We will continue to make fabric flowers as some of the children did not get time to complete theirs this week.
Friday – Baking – We will be making apple crumble!
Outside activities all week: There will be connect 4, giant Duplo, the mud kitchen, construction vehicles, football, and Meccano.
Have a lovely weekend!
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
