This Week – Unfortunately we were unable to enjoy our planned activities this week in OOSC due to the situation in school. The weather has been dry and mild and to help keep our children safe we have spent lots of time outside in the garden. The children have been using the scooters and playing football and Swingball. The children had lots of fun playing with torches in the dark and making snow, see Kester below, he had lots of fun! We moved some of our craft activities outside too and we made paper chains and paper snowflakes in the garden. On Wednesday evening we had a movie evening with pizza, cupcakes, and hot chocolate, we watched Elf, as requested by the children.
Next Term – Next term we start with our new ‘themed activites’ schedule and we will have a recycling theme too! Please feel free to bring in any recycling, Christmas wrap and ribbons. We will also be caring for our garden wildlife, making sure they have food and water.
Wednesday – Cinema Circle – We will be watching Toy Story 4, a nice relaxing start for our first day back after the Christmas break. We will be making our very own ‘Forky’, using plasticine, pipe cleaners and lolly pop sticks.
Thursday – We will be outside den building; we’ll be in teams and the children, working together can choose a structure, find an area in the Playhouse, and start their build. We will be cooking on the campfire. Please feel free to send in a change of clothes for your child, it will be cold in January.
For those children in our Animating session; we will be starting with the basics. Our theme will be lego and we will investigate how to build and start our animation story.
Friday – We will be making cheese and pesto straws. The children will be weighing and mixing their ingredients. Help and advice will be on hand for those who need it. Please bring in a named apron and named container. For those not baking, we will have some ice activities, and touch on a bit of science.
Outside activities all week: There will be connect 4, giant Duplo, the mud kitchen, construction vehicles, football and Meccano.
Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year! Thank you so much for all our wonderful cards and gifts, they are all very much appreciated.
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
