Dear Parents / Carers
This Week – We had a chocolate theme this week in OOSC. We made chocolate refrigerator cake which was enjoyed by everyone. The children made their own chocolate scented playdough and edible chocolate slime. We also had a competition to design a chocolate bar wrapper – the winner will be announced on Monday. We watched the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and played with ‘chocolate’ mud in the mud kitchen. The Hama beads have continued to be popular this week, along with bracelet making. This evening we will be enjoying hot chocolate around the fire pit.
Next Week – Next week we are having a circus skills week with juggling, hula hooping, balancing and we will also do some cooking.
Halloween Party – Friends of John Clare are holding their Halloween Party on Friday 22nd October, if your child is attending the party, please can you let us know. Many thanks.
World Mental Health Day – World Mental Health Day is on Sunday 10th October and Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) has launched the Better Health-Every Mind Matters campaign to support the nation’s mental wellbeing. The campaign heroes the little things we can all do to look after our mental wellbeing and how they can make a big difference; helping us to lead happier, healthier lives and cope with life’s challenges.
At the heart of the campaign is the free, NHS endorsed Mind Plan quiz. By answering five simple questions, you will get a personalised mental health action plan with simple, practical tips to help you deal with stress and anxiety, boost your mood, sleep better and show ‘there are little things we can all do to look after our mental health’. If you don’t want to have a go at the Quiz, go the Home page, it’s full of useful advice and help for all ages.
Thank you – We would like to say a Huge Thank you to Nancy, our volunteer in Preschool, we are hoping she can return to the Playhouse soon, in the meantime she has raised an amazing £50.00 for the Playhouse.
Thank you – We would like to say another Huge Thank you to Nicola Dela-Croix. Nicola, a Helpston resident living in Temples Court came up with the idea of a Style Share event to give local ladies an opportunity to share their pre-loved clothing, enjoy a social get-together and raise money for charity. The Playhouse was the first charity she picked! Nicola’s first event was held last night (7th October) in the Village Hall! Nicola and the ladies attending this fantastic event raised £50.00 for us. Thank you!!
More Style Share Events are planned, with donations being made to other local charities. Please go to Nicola’s Style Share Facebook page for more details. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2907358209531453
Have a lovely weekend!
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
