Dear Parents / Carers
THANK YOU – Thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas Raffle; to those families who bought tickets and those businesses who donated prizes – you helped us raise an amazing £527.40. We would also like to say ‘Thank you’ to Jodie Dobson who kindly asked BGL to fund match, giving us a further £500 donation. You all helped us raise a whopping £1027.40 for the Preschool and OOSC!
Reminder: John Clare School Staff Car Park – Parents are not permitted to use the John Clare Staff Car Park between 8.00am and 4.00pm. Please can you ensure anyone dropping off or collecting your child is also aware of these restrictions. Many thanks.
Newspapers – If you have any old newspapers, please can you bring them in. We are in desperate need of some, thank you.
Apologies – Please accept our sincere apologies this week, due to unforeseen technical issues we’ve been unable to include any photos.
This Week – We’ve been outside this week playing football and Connect 4. The mud kitchen was back in use which the children loved. Inside we made planet playdough cutting out stars and using gems. We also made inside dens. The darts have been popular as well.
Monday – Craft Club – The children did some crafting with kitchen rolls. They used kitchen rolls paint and pipe cleaners. They made some lovely animal designs.
Tuesday – Science Society – We created a snowstorms, in a jar using white paint, baby oil and an Alka Seltzer. These created the effect of a lava lamp, but the white paint looked like snowballs going up and down the jar.
Wednesday – Movie & Animation – The children watched Madagascar whilst enjoying their popcorn. We used a new ‘App’ this week. Our animators made a couple of short films with dinosaurs, but we spent a lot of time looking at the new features that we can now use on the new app. We can’t wait for next week.
Thursday – Forest school & Den building – The children enjoyed using the hammers and nails to make their own creations and patterns in the wood. They also used the mud kitchen and made their own lemon stew.
Friday – Baking – Later today we will be we will be making focaccia bread with the options to add sun dried tomatoes, olives and maybe some rosemary or garlic.

Next week – Here are some of our planned activities for next week in the OOSC.
Monday – Craft Club – We will be making something ‘for the one you love’ using various craft items.
Tuesday – Science Society – Hopefully the weather will be dry so we can go outside to create exploding snowmen in a bag.
Wednesday – Movie & Animation – The children will be watching Encanto.
For our animators, we will continue trying out the new features on our app to improve our films.
Thursday – Forest School & Den Building – We will be lighting the fire and we will be cooking quesadillas; we will fill our tortillas with cheese and tomato.
Friday – Baking – We will be making heart shaped biscuits with a message from ‘Love Heart’ sweets for our ‘special person’.
