Dear Parents / Carers
COVID Update:
Here is the link to the latest Government Guidance for Early Years settings: What parents and carers need to know about early years providers, schools and colleges during COVID-19 – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
Playhouse Activities This Week –This week we have enjoyed building some fantastic constructions using famous buildings as our inspiration! The children made some fantastic creations! We have been looking at the occupation of builders and enjoyed lots of builder’s role play, the children have been busy building with our safety jackets and tools! We have been using our senses to investigate different textures, building on the children’s knowledge of describing words such as “smooth, bumpy, hard, soft, rough”. We enjoyed many ring games and some of the children enjoyed doing some woodwork; this week they explored sawing!
Forest School – In Forest school this week we have been busy moving soil ready to replant the Christmas and apple trees. We planted both trees and daffodil bulbs. They are already starting to come through a lovely sign of Spring. Next term we are looking forward to the Forest school area looking greener and we will be planting some new ‘fun’ and ‘sensory’ plants.
Playhouse Activities Next Term – Next term we will be looking at Spring and new life. We have Happy Chicks arriving and the children will be able to see the new chicks! Our themed book will be Spinderella and this links into our maths theme.
Children Going to School in September – Rising Fives – For our rising fives, we will be sending home “Ready to start school’ leaflets today, please don’t worry if you haven’t received yours, we will give these out after half term too. This is an easy guide to help your child to be ready for school! This leaflet highlights areas that you should focus on with your child. Please encourage them to keep practising these school readiness skills throughout these upcoming months before school. This leaflet also supports the skills we are building on for your child to be “school ready” such as building on their independence, asking for help, getting dressed themselves, using the toilet, listening, and following instructions and many more skills!
Any help? – Please do not hesitate to speak to staff if you have any concerns or would just like a catch up, we are always available.
Have a lovely half term!
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
