Dear Parents / Carers
IMPORTANT:
NEW: FACE COVERINGS – Unless you are exempt, there is still a requirement to wear a face covering when dropping off or collecting your child. This safety measure is in place to protect you, your family and our staff especially if we need to talk to you at the gate where social distancing cannot be maintained. Please can you advise any Grandparents that may be coming to the Playhouse on your behalf. Thank you for your help.

Playhouse Activities This Week – This week we have been trying to stay cool! The children have been watering the plants to make sure they stay alive in the heat. We have been measuring our sunflowers and we will be doing this weekly from now on. We have had a nature hunt around the garden and the children have been looking for different objects. The children have had a role paly hospital and the children have been taking care of emergencies.
Forest School – In Forest School we read the Goddess of Spaghetti. We talked about people around the world who may not be as lucky as us. As a celebration we made decorations using wool. We collected leaves and flowers from our beautiful garden and weaved these into bunting.
Playhouse Activities Next Week – Next week we will have the Doctors and Builders as our role play. We will also have lots of literacy activities.
Monthly Makaton Sign – June’s Makaton sign which we are going to learn is ‘no/stop’. Please have a go at home, remember to sign and say the word together. Go slow and show.
Urgent – Nut Allergy – Just a reminder that we are a ‘nut free’ setting. Please ensure you do not bring any nut related items in your child’s packed lunch e.g. peanut butter sandwiches or nuts. We have a child attending who has a severe nut allergy. If you are not sure something is safe, please don’t hesitate to contact us for further advice. Many thanks.
Sunscreen –We know mornings are very busy but please ensure sunscreen is applied to your child before coming into Preschool. We will reapply sunscreen after lunch.
School Ready – We are nearly at the end of term and school is fast approaching for some of our children. For those children attending school in September, we have previously sent some school ready information, here are a few reminders:
Getting dressed independently – your child might like to practice putting on their school uniform. Let them get familiar with the buttons etc ..
School dinners – the children have been practising cutting up their food. This builds confidence and independence.
General conversation – remember don’t go overboard with endless talk. Have conversations in ‘more of a matter of fact approach’ so the transition isn’t a ‘big thing’.
Any help? – Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you need any support, ideas or just a chat we are always available.
Thank you – A big Thank you to Nancy, our Volunteer, she held a jam and chutney sale and raised an amazing £113.52 for the Playhouse. Thank you very much Nancy.
National Literacy Trust – The National Literacy Trust are having a story trail on Tuesday 6th July from 10.00am – 2.00pm at Central Park in Peterborough.
Have a lovely weekend! Stay safe and well!
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
