Playhouse Activities This Week – This week we extended the children’s interest in bug hunting. They really enjoyed learning about the ladybird lifecycle, we made playdough ladybirds and painted pictures of ladybirds too! We also looked at the frog lifecycle and we used chia seeds as frogspawn. We have been observing our caterpillars, they are now getting quite big, and the children can’t wait for them to turn into butterflies.
Forest School – In Forest School we read What the ladybird heard on Holiday. We talked about the different bugs we’ve looked at and what they do. This week we have been counting the ladybird spots and then sorted and matched the numbers to them. We enjoyed some bubble blowing fun, comparing bubbles for the roundest, biggest and smallest. The children also watched our resident robin family. The mummy and daddy have four babies in our shed and we watched them bring in worms to feed them.
Playhouse Activities Next Week – Next week we are going to look at the lifecycle of plants and flowers. We are going to make some flowers for our spring display board.
Letter of the Week – Our letter of the Week will be ‘c/k’. We will use resources from the playhouse as we are not yet able to accept items from home.
Monthly Makaton Sign – May’s Makaton sign which we are going to learn is ‘share’. Please have a go at home, remember to sign and say the word together. Go slow and show.
Reminder: Colds, Coughs and Sneezes – Please can you help us to prevent the spread of germs in our setting. If you could please encourage your child to sneeze or cough into their arm; wipe their nose, pop the tissue in the bin and wash their hands; this is a great way to encourage independence too! If your child is not well, please keep them at home. Thank you.
