IMPORTANT UPDATE: Testing for COVID – If your child goes for a COVID test, please don’t forget to let us know. We need to report any cases to our Early Years Team for Track & Trace purposes and where required, we will notify parents, carers and staff if they need to self-isolate. This is really important to ensure that we can keep each other, our families and our staff safe. Thank you.

Playhouse Activities This Week – Another snowy and cold week; we’ve had great fun playing in the snow. This week we have been learning about the Chinese’s New Years and how the calendar animals evolved. The children watched some Chinese dancing and we experimented with our movement dancing to the tranquil Chinese music. We made Chinese lanterns, using our good scissor skills.
Forest School – This week in forest school we explored the snow! We had a treasure hunt in the snow, slush, and ice. We found cones, conkers, leaves and wood. We talked about how the ice and snow melts. The children built their own snow castles and decorated them! There was even enough left to make a mini snowman.
Playhouse Activities After Half Term – After half term we will be reading Jack and The Beanstalk; we’ll be planting beans and having lots of fun creating castles.
Can you Help? Fundraising Matching Schemes – This is a really difficult time for all charities as we can’t carry our out normal fundraising events but, we are thinking about what we can do at this time. Does your employer take part in a Fundraising matching scheme? If they do and you are happy to approach your manager, boss, team leader, please can you get in touch with us, we would love to hear from you.

Monthly Makaton Sign – Just a reminder, we are going to have a monthly Makaton sign to learn. Here is our top tip .. Remember to sign and say the word together. Go slow and show. This month we are going to learn: Mummy & Daddy
Sound of the Week – Our sound of the Week will be ‘n’. We will use resources from the playhouse as we are not yet able to accept items from home.
School Ready – This time of year comes around so quickly but it’s time to start thinking about your child moving onto to school. Throughout your child’s journey at the Playhouse we strive to build them into confident, happy and independent children ready to start their journey at school. We will be sending a booklet home about what you can do to supporting your child’s school journey.
You will see that the focus is independence! Getting dressed, Toilet trained (Wiping their bottom by themselves) Can they ask for help? Do they listen and follow directions? These are just some of the focus areas, please take the time to read through the booklet and please do not hesitate to get in touch is you need any further guidance.
