Dear Parents / Carers
Scarlet Fever – We have been advised that one of our children at the Playhouse has been diagnosed with Scarlet Fever. Scarlet fever is a bacterial illness. The characteristic symptom of scarlet fever is a widespread, fine pink-red rash that feels like sandpaper to touch which soon spreads to many parts of the body, such as the ears, neck and chest. The rash may be itchy. Other symptoms include a high temperature, a flushed face and a red, swollen tongue and sore throat.
Symptoms of scarlet fever usually develop two to five days after infection, although you will be contagious before showing signs of the illness.
If you suspect that your child has Scarlet Fever, please consult your GP as antibiotics will be required. Your child must be excluded from the Playhouse for 24 hours after starting antibiotic treatment or as advised by your GP.
Other Illnesses – as a general reminder, if your child has diarrhoea and/or vomiting, children must be excluded from the Playhouse for 48 hours after the last episode of diarrhoea or sickness. These are the guidelines issued by the Health Protection Agency for Preschools.
Letter & Sound of the Week – Our chosen letter for next week will be ‘t’. Please can your child bring in an item beginning with ‘t’.
Guinea Pigs – We have two Guinea Pigs at the Playhouse, they are really easy to look after so if you and your child would like to adopt them for a weekend, please let us know, we are always looking for volunteers!!
Stay & Play Sessions – We are holding Stay & Play sessions for those children attending school in September. They will be held on 14th, 16th & 17th October from 9.00 – 9.45am. Parents & Grandparents are invited to join their child /grandchild in a play session. Please let us know if you would like to attend. We have chosen not to invite our new starters at the moment as some of them are still settling in, you will have the opportunity to attend one of these sessions in the future.
Parent Meetings – We will be holding Parent meetings with you week commencing 20th October. This meeting will be held with your child’s Keyworker and we will discuss ‘Summary 1’s’, this is an overview of your child’s progress. Your child’s Keyworker will contact you to make a convenient appointment.
Let’s Grow Vouchers – Do you shop at Morrisons? If you do, please can you collect their Let’s Grow vouchers and bring them into the Playhouse? Previously, we have used these to obtain fantastic items for the Playhouse garden.
Christmas – It’s that time of year when we prepare for Christmas here at the Playhouse. This year we would like our Preschool and OOSC children to draw a Christmas design of their choice. Your child’s artwork can then be used to personalise Christmas cards, gift tags, mugs or tea towels! We are starting early to that you receive your items just after half term and in plenty of time for Christmas. We will of course organise these activities here at the Playhouse but if you prefer your child can complete their drawing at home. You will need to ask us for a Drawing Template. All templates must be returned to the Playhouse by Thursday 23rd October.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend!
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
