Dear Parents / Carers

COVID – If your child or a family member tests positive for COVID via an LFD or PCR, please can you let us know. Thank you.

Last week – Here are a few pictures of the children making their crumble!
This Week – Due to the upcoming Platinum Jubilee we’ve had lots of themed activities taking place this week. Our library monitors have ensured that everyone has been involved making crowns, colouring beautiful pictures and we have painted Union flags. Our planned activities have also taken on a Jubilee theme. Outside we’ve had lots of fun and we even used the sandpit!

Monday – Woodwork & Construction – We had a softer type of construction theme this week as the children chose to make Jubilee pom poms using red, white, and blue wool. The Playhouse was quieter without the sound of nails being hammered!
Tuesday – Science Society –
We created secret drawings and messages using wax and butter as we investigated water resistance. We then used watery paint to reveal our creations. We also tried using soap but the children correctly predicted that this wouldn’t work.

Wednesday – Gardening & Forest School –
We tidied and weeded the garden. We also planted more flowers this week.

Thursday – Den Building – The children decided they would like to rebuild and enhance their fort this week.  The children worked really well as a team.
Thursday – Craft Club –
We used our red, white and blue wool to cover and decorate cardboard initials of the children.

Friday – Baking – This afternoon will be making an Afternoon tea to celebrate the Jubilee. We’ll be making sandwiches; sausage rolls, and we’ll be cake decorating.

After Half Term – We are currently in the process of planning some exciting activities ready for next term. Some of the sessions will include bubbles, what makes them and how we can create colourful pictures. We’ll have craft pictures using buttons, they’ll be lots of gardening and we’ll start our first week back making potato skins with cheese!

Have a lovely half term!
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
