Dear Parents / Carers

Playhouse Activities This Week – This week, we have had a fabulous time learning about rats, snakes, tarantulas, frogs and cockroaches. Chris, the Ranger from Zoolab spoke about interesting facts and had some fun stories to tell the children!

Forest School – In Forest school this week we read Herbie’s Big Adventure and talked about hibernation. The children found some conker hedgehogs and counted them. They organised the numbers and numerals. Great teamwork! Using the cuddly animals, we built cosy homes ready for their big sleep. Each child waited patiently and took turns to use the hammer. We talked about safety and how to give each other room. They hammered nails into the wood to make the spikes. We listened to the sounds, counted the nails and the hits from the hammer. Then we sang a Hedgehog is Very Prickly!

Playhouse Activities Next Week – Next week is Road Safety week and we will be learning about how we keep ourselves safe when crossing the road. We will be creating traffic lights and ‘What is a zebra crossing?’. We will be thinking about why we raise money for Pudsey and how it helps families and children. On Friday it’s ‘Children in Need’, we’ll have lots of Pudsey activities! Your child is welcome to wear something spotty for a small donation to this great charity.

Home activity – This week’s home activity is called ‘body awareness songs & sleeping bunnies’. We really enjoy singing and dancing to action songs at Preschool and we hope you enjoy sharing and singing these together at home too! This activity is great for your child’s communication and language, early literacy skills and much more! Please take a look at Tapestry.

Can you help? – If you have any kitchen roll tubes and any spare boxes (a variety of sizes), they will be greatly received for our future craft activities. Please don’t hesitate to bring them in! Thank you.

Slapped Cheek Syndrome – Just to let you know that we have a case of slapped cheek within the Playhouse, this is quite common in children and is a viral infection. Please take extra care if you are pregnant or have a weakened immune system. Here is the link to the NHS website if you would like further information. Slapped cheek syndrome – NHS (www.nhs.uk)
