Dear Parents / Carers

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Testing for COVID – If your child goes for a COVID test, please don’t forget to let us know. We need to report any cases to our Early Years Team for Track & Trace purposes and where required, we will notify parents, carers and staff if they need to self-isolate. This is really important to ensure that we can keep each other, our families and our staff safe. Thank you.

Snow –
There is snow forecast for Sunday and maybe Monday next week. If John Clare School is closed, we will be closed too. If we are shut due to the weather, we will notify you by email as soon as we can.

Playhouse Activities This Week
This week the children have loved watching their cress grow and have now started to take it home to eat. We hope you enjoy it. We have done lots of number and shape work.

Literacy This Week – This week we have enjoyed reading Goldilocks and The Three Bears and we have used a rustic role play set to rein act and recall this story! We have spent time reading many different stories to the children! This week is National Story Telling Week and we have added some activities on tapestry for you all to enjoy! It is not too late to enjoy these at home and share with us! A big thank you for everyone who have shared their favourite stories with us!

On Wednesday, we joined The Hungry Little Minds Family Digital Day via zoom! The children listened to a story read by the children’s author Nick Sharratt! He read the Whales on the Bus and we enjoyed singing nursery rhymes with him! The children drew pictures about the characters too! We listened to the Snail and a Whale story. We also joined our Peterborough Literacy Ambassador, Lisa from the National Literacy Trust, for a Rhyming bag activity. It was amazing! We loved it!

Forest School – This week we continued the bird watch theme; we talked about how hard it can be for the birds in winter. The ground is frozen, and the insects are hibernating. We used some bagels, spread on some butter, and pressed in some seed. We added some string to the bagels and tied them up for the birds. We played a ‘Guess the Bird’ game, which bird has a red chest, who wears a blur cap and which birds are all black.  We’ve also added a fun activity on Tapestry for this weekend.

Playhouse Activities Next Week – Next week we will be looking at China and we’ll be learning about the Chinese New Year.

Home learning – We hope you are still enjoying our activities on Tapestry. Don’t forget to share your pictures, we would love to see them.
Reminder of sessions:

Monthly Makaton Sign – Just a reminder, we are going to have a monthly Makaton sign to learn. Here is our top tip .. Remember to sign and say the word together. Go slow and show. This month we are going to learn: Friends

Sound of the Week – Our sound of the Week will be ‘p’. We will use resources from the playhouse as we are not yet able to accept items from home.

Have a lovely weekend! Stay safe and well!
Kind regards
