Dear Parents / Carers

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Testing for COVID – If your child goes for a COVID test, please don’t forget to let us know. We need to report any cases to our Early Years Team for Track & Trace purposes and where required, we will notify parents, carers and staff if they need to self-isolate. This is really important to ensure that we can keep each other, our families and our staff safe. Thank you.

Playhouse Activities This Week –
This week we have made treasure maps and hunted for treasure. We made bird feeders and talked about how to care for the birds in winter. We played football and catching games. We ventured outside in the snow and enjoyed trying to catch and eat it. The children made pizzas on Friday.

Forest School – This week in forest school we went on a number treasure hunt. The children found treasure ‘numbered conkers’ and matched them back at the tray. They sorted and matched them into groups. The children then took turns to hide the treasure for their friends. The running around kept us warm! The children also made treasure maps that they brought out too.

Playhouse Activities Next Week – Next week we will continue with the Pizzas and bird feeders for the children who haven’t created one this week. We will also carry out lots of winter activities.

Medical Advice – It can be confusing to know what to do when your child is ill during this pandemic. The NHS are still providing safe care and have issued a couple of quick and easy information guides. These will be included in the Weekly Update email and are worth a look!

What could it be? – Ethan went on a walk in the Hills & Holes at Barnack and found some footprints … we are not sure what they could be? What are your thoughts?

Literacy bags Lisa the Peterborough literacy coordinator has given us some literacy bags, they include classic stories and items for making puppets and some bubbles. There is a planned activity on Tapestry to go alongside the bags. We would love to receive your feedback and photos to share with all the children and also Lisa so she can see what a great impact the bags have had on the children.  They will slowly be given out so please don’t worry if you haven’t received one yet.

Home learning – We hope you enjoyed our activities on Tapestry this week and don’t forget there will be some more for you to do at home. This week we set up a cosy corner. Eleanor and her sister created a cosy corner and had great fun playing together, so did Archer & Alby. Please take a look at their pictures .. we would love to see some more.

Reminder of sessions:

Wednesday at 2:45pm

Monthly Makaton Sign – Just a reminder, we are going to have a monthly Makaton sign to learn. Here is our top tip .. Remember to sign and say the word together. Go slow and show. This month we are going to learn: Play

Sound of the Week – Our sound of the Week will be ‘a’. We will use resources from the playhouse as we are not yet able to accept items from home.

Have a lovely weekend! Stay safe and well!
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
