Dear Parents / Carers

Please find below this week’s Weekly Update!

Letter of the Week – Our chosen letter for our next session is ‘z’! Please can your child bring in an item which has a ‘z’.

Makaton – Our chosen sign will be ‘more’.

Playhouse Activities This Week – This week we have planted bulbs and we have been exploring India. We have learnt that the National Bird of India is the Peacock and the differences between Indian and African elephants. Next week we will look at more interesting facts. There has been some amazing acting in the performance of the Billy Goats Gruff.

Forest School This Week This week we read Ready Steady Jump. We explored movement and the language of movement. We built an obstacle course and the children navigated their way around the course, testing their risk-taking skills and building their confidence. For fun and to tie in with our book we jumped around popping bubbles.

Playhouse Activities Next Week – Next week we will be looking at more interesting facts about India. Our craft activities will be mice for Hickory Dickory Dock. We will look at the story of Little Red Riding Hood. For cookery we will be making bread sticks. Rachel is also holding Letters & Sounds Workshops.

Diary Dates – Here are a few dates for your dairy.
W/c 10th February – Letters & Sounds Workshops. Please sign up in the cloakroom.
W/c 2nd March – World Book Week & the 5th is World Environment Day
W/c 9th March – Hindu Celebration – Holi
W/c 16th March – World Down Syndrome Week

Library – We have a new Library at the Playhouse which the Committee have fully supported and have funded lots of new books. All children have the opportunity to sign out a book, bring it home, read it and swap it for a new book when they’re ready. There is a wide selection of books to choose from. Literacy is so important. It is lovely to see the children going off into their own little corner of the Playhouse to read. A huge Thank you to our Committee and our Librarians from the OOSC!

Children’s Mental Health Week – The theme of this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is Find your Brave.  Life often throws challenges our way. Bravery isn’t about coping alone or holding things in. It’s about finding positive ways to deal with things that might be difficult, overcoming physical and mental challenges and looking after yourself. As parents and carers, you play an important role in your child’s mental health. Check out this site for more information and free resources  https://www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk/

Have a lovely weekend!
Kind regards
The Playhouse Team
