Child Development, Support Services & Learning Resources

We’re often approached by Parents and/or Carers about their child’s development where they are curious to know whether their child is developing as we would expect for their age level. This is quite tricky to answer as each child is different but, we have decided to pull together some resources for you, just in case you would like to look into this further. This guide is intended to help you if you feel you would like some further support and to gain a better understanding. The attached information is available from various Government departments, this isn’t intended to worry you, just to let you know what information and support is available.

Child Development
Every child learns at their own pace but we are required to measure their development through several areas of learning and development through the Early Year’s Foundation Stage curriculum. Personal, Social and emotional, Communication and Language, Mathematics, Literacy, Understanding the world, Expressive arts and Design and Physical development. Every child has unique ways of learning and each individual child grows and develops at different rates. To gain more understanding of your child’s overall expected stages of development, here is a guide to understanding ‘what to expect when’. http://www.foundationyears.org.uk/files/2015/03/4Children_ParentsGuide_2015_WEB.pdf
